Trouble Converting Your Pipeline?

If your pipeline looks healthy but deals aren’t moving, you likely don’t have an activity problem. You have a conversation problem.

A packed calendar can hide weak sales conversations. Many professionals stay busy but avoid the moments that actually advance deals. The calls sound productive, yet nothing meaningfully changes afterward.

The good news? Most conversion problems come from a few fixable communication gaps.

If your discovery feels shallow, you’re probably uncovering symptoms instead of stakes. Go deeper with questions like:

  • “Why now?”
  • “What happens if this gets delayed?”
  • “Who feels the impact most if this works?”

If you find yourself pitching too early, slow down and lower the pressure. Try saying:

“If this isn’t valuable in 10 minutes, we’ll stop.”

If you’re not quantifying the cost of inaction, buyers will default to staying where they are. Translate your solution into business impact, financial outcomes, or operational risk reduction.

And if next steps feel vague, the deal is probably weaker than it appears.

Strong professionals close conversations with clear ownership, calendar commitments, and defined actions on both sides. Review your calls weekly. Study where momentum was gained or lost. Track advances, not just meetings.

Courageous conversations convert. Everything else is activity disguised as progress.
